That’s where our silverfish control services come in.

How Silverfish Treatment Works
When you work with our silverfish exterminators, our first goal is to stop the existing problem. Our second goal is to make sure the problem doesn’t come back. Here’s our proven three-step process to get you both immediate and long-term results.
- Our technicians start with a comprehensive home inspection, combing through the dark and damp areas silverfish tend to favor. In addition to the insects themselves, we also look for telltale signs, such as droppings, discarded skins, or small chewed spots on books and paper materials.
- Once we’ve pinpointed where silverfish are active, we deploy targeted treatments in places where they’re likely to have maximum effect. Our aim is to eliminate silverfish, disrupt colonies, and hinder future reproduction cycles.
- Last but not least, we strive to help keep silverfish away for good with long-term prevention. We’ll share tips on reducing moisture and proper storage techniques, to name a few ideas. By following these tips, you can prevent the next infestation before it starts.

Where Do Silverfish Hide?
In warm, humid states like Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky, the silverfish hiding places are practically endless. Common hideouts include:
- Bathrooms and Showers
- Attics or Basements
- Kitchen Cabinets
- Piles of Paper & Cardboard
Are Silverfish Dangerous?
Silverfish aren’t known to bite or transmit diseases, so they don’t pose a direct health risk to humans or pets. However, they can be destructive to your paper goods, photos, and sometimes even clothing.
Just having them around can also be unsettling. They’re very quick and move in a strange fish-like manner (hence the name), a combination that gives many people the creeps.
Are Silverfish and Firebrats the Same?
How do you know if you need silverfish or firebrat control? Silverfish and firebrats belong to the same insect order (Zygentoma) and both have elongated carrot-shaped bodies. Both insects are nocturnal, feeding on starchy materials like paper and glue, and neither poses a health threat to humans, but even so, they’re quite different. The two easiest ways to tell them apart is by paying close attention to their color or where you found them.
- Color: Silverfish usually have a metallic sheen — ranging from silvery-gray to blueish tones — whereas firebrats often have mottles or brownish speckles.
- Habitat and temperature preferences: Silverfish like damp bathrooms, basements, and closets. Firebrats thrive in much hotter, dryer areas, often seeking out temperatures above 90°F. You’re more likely to find them hiding near furnaces, water heaters, or hot pipes.
